“Every now and then, life invites you into a long, slow journey, like making a good wine. You hope that the end product will be good, something to be proud of, but you know that a number of variables have to come together in the right order for it to be just right.
In this project – a collaborative journey of experimentation over five years – everything came together just right.
Like the grape on the vine, the conditions were perfect, the raw materials were all there, and the pickers and vignerons did their thing. This is an oak-matured wine ready to drink. I stand eternally proud and honoured to be a custodian of these songs and, together with Michael, to have brought them to life on the Surrender CD.”
